Ashraya is a refuge, working as a social and democratic institution with a secular outlook to provide food, shelter, medical aid and rehabilitation to those needy in the society including orphans all over the state of Kerala. Hundreds of destitutes are being looked after in different homes. Ashraya and associated institutions all over Kerala are becoming a refuge to the thousands of homeless, abandoned, mentally retarded and deranged, orphans and elderly.
The last eighteen years since its inception in 1994 witnessed the humble growth of the institution. Ashraya now has seven rehabilitation units all over the state of Kerala. Ashraya Mathrunadu monthly magazine is published on a regular basis since 2009 and it has a circulation of 20,000 copies. This publication aims at cultural upbringing, promotion of budding litterateurs, promotion of cherished values and benevolence increasingly being lost in the contemporary materialistic society. It also tries to portray stories of people increasingly being ignored and relegated.
